Old Yamuna Bridge in Delhi is set to be replaced after 25 years

old Yamuna Bridge in Delhi

According to recent news reports, the old Yamuna Bridge in Delhi, which has been in service for over 25 years, is set to be replaced. The bridge, also known as the DND (Delhi-Noida Direct) flyway bridge, connects Delhi with Noida and is an important link for commuters traveling between the two cities.

The Delhi government has reportedly decided to replace the old bridge with a new one, which will be wider and will have more lanes to accommodate the increasing traffic between Delhi and Noida. The new bridge is expected to have six lanes, as compared to the current four, and will be able to handle more vehicles at a time.

The decision to replace the old bridge comes after a recent inspection revealed that it had developed several structural defects and was in urgent need of repairs. The bridge has been closed for repairs in the past, causing massive traffic jams and inconvenience for commuters.

The construction of the new bridge is expected to take at least two years, and during this time, commuters will have to use alternative routes to travel between Delhi and Noida. The Delhi government has assured commuters that it will take all necessary measures to minimize the inconvenience caused by the construction of the new bridge.

The new bridge is expected to be a major relief for commuters traveling between Delhi and Noida, as it will reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion on the existing bridge. The project is estimated to cost around Rs. 2,500 crore and is expected to be completed by 2025.
