Elon Musk has announced Linda Yaccarino, the former head of global advertising at NBCUniversal, as the new CEO of Twitter. According to Musk’s tweets, he will transition to the role of executive chair and chief technology officer (CTO) at Twitter, overseeing product, software, and system operations.
Musk mentioned that Yaccarino will be focusing on business operations, while he will concentrate on product design and new technology. Last month it got unfolded that Twitter has been incorporated into a new shell company called X Corp. This aligns with Elon Musk’s tweets mentioning the transformation of Twitter into an “everything app” similar to WeChat. Musk has referred to Twitter as an “accelerant” for creating this comprehensive platform.
I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!
@LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.
Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app. https://t.co/TiSJtTWuky

How it will help
Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter could help alleviate concerns among Tesla investors. They were worried about Elon Musk’s time and attention being divided between Twitter and Tesla. With Yaccarino taking on the role of CEO at Twitter, Musk expressed that it would allow him to dedicate more time to his responsibilities at Tesla.
What happened previously
Elon Musk took the role of Twitter CEO immediately after completing the purchase of the company. Upon taking over, he reportedly fired several top executives, including the then chief executive, Parag Agrawal. Additionally, Musk made significant cuts to Twitter’s workforce, reducing it from around 7,500 employees to approximately 1,500.
Elon Musk did express his intention to step down as eo of Twitter and find a suitable replacement in December 2022. In his tweet on Thursday, he confirmed that he has hired a new chief executive for X/Twitter and that the new CEO, referred to as “she,” would be starting in approximately six weeks.
