Corbion, a global ingredient supplier and preservation solutions leader, has renovated its lab facilities in Gorinchem, The Netherlands, to support a greater number of collaborative projects with customers in the European meat industry. The upgraded facilities provide additional space and new equipment to support innovation, training, and product development efforts for meat processors.
The Gorinchem Meat Lab is equipped for technical training, conducting trials, exploring new product concepts, and conducting shelf-life and meat applications studies. It is designed to support processing for a wide variety of meat, poultry, fish, seafood, and plant-based product applications. The facility has been ergonomically redesigned, and improvements include upgrades or replacements of electrical installations, water management systems, and refrigeration and air conditioning units to ensure sustainable, resource-efficient operations.
According to Cristiane Marangoni, meat application manager at Corbion, many customers consider Corbion an essential collaborator and co-creator, functioning as an extension of their R&D department due to the level of technical expertise and state-of-the-art lab and pilot facilities provided. The improvements in the Gorinchem labs will allow Corbion to better meet the needs of the market, providing support, expertise, and infrastructure to customers that make great economic and strategic sense.
Simone Bouman, regional vice president-Sustainable Food Solutions, EMEA, said that “Corbion has always been committed to providing outstanding customer support, and the rebuilt meat lab enables the company to take both the number and quality of collaborations with customers to a new level. The upgraded facilities will nurture greater innovation in general, creating solutions that help seize market opportunities and deliver greater value for customers, consumers, and Corbion“.
