It seems that “Adipurush,” directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, had a strong opening weekend at the domestic box office but experienced a decline in collections on weekdays. On Tuesday, the film earned Rs 10 crore across all languages, and on Wednesday, it collected Rs 7.5 crore net domestically, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Out of the Rs 7.5 crore, the Hindi version contributed Rs 4 crore, bringing the film’s total net collections in India to Rs 255.3 crore.
Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan reports that the film’s net worldwide collection after six days stands at Rs 359.66 crore, with the sixth day bringing in Rs 14.27 crore. The producers have decided to slash ticket prices to Rs 150 for the 3D version, with additional charges for 3D glasses, which might help boost the film’s collections on Thursday and Friday.
T-Series, the film’s producer, claimed that after five days in theaters, “Adipurush” collected Rs 395 crore gross worldwide. The film faced controversy due to objections raised against the dialogues written by Manoj Muntashir. However, three days after the release, Muntashir announced that the dialogues would be revised, and the revised version started screening in theaters on Wednesday.
Although “Adipurush” had a strong start, earning Rs 140 crore worldwide on the opening day and Rs 340 crore in the first weekend, it witnessed a sharp decline on its first Monday and struggled to recover. With the ticket price reduction and no major releases in theaters during the upcoming weekend, combined with the revised dialogues, there is a possibility that the film’s collections might improve in the next few days. Similar strategies have previously worked for films like “Brahmastra,” “Chup: Revenge of the Artist,” and “Pathaan.” It is anticipated that “Adipurush” could cross the Rs 500 crore mark after its second weekend.
